Event Dates

Mark your calendars now for the 2015 Windgate social events.  If you have an idea for an event, please contact Shannon Arteaga or Kristin Larson, our Social Directors.  We are always looking for new ideas.  For those new to the association, here is a brief description of each.

Saturday March 28, 2015 - Easter Egg Hunt: Each year, we hold our Easter Egg Hunt.  Usually, it’s in one of the cul-de-sacs.  Eggs are scattered for each age group.  Kids trade in their eggs for goodies and toys.  Somehow the Easter Bunny always finds our party and makes a visit.  To keep everyone warm, coffee, hot chocolate and donuts are served.  There is a small cost per child.

Saturday July 11, 2015 - Block Party: The block party is the biggest event of the year.  We block off part of Book Road, cater food and bring out our lawn chairs.  There are games and prizes for the kids and for the adults.  Between the balloon toss, golf putting and other games, there’s something for most everyone.  The last few years, we had an inflatable slide that was a big hit with the kids.  It’s a great way to come out and get together with your neighbors.

Tuesday August 4, 2015 - Ice Cream Social and National Night Out: National Night Out is an nationwide event in which neighbors are encouraged to lock their doors, turn on the porch lights and go out and meet their neighbors.  People from the city of Naperville come out to the neighborhoods.  In the past, we have had visits from the Police Department, Fire Department, Community Radio Watch, Communications Team, CERT and Animal Control.  To make a night of it, we also have the Ice Cream Social on that night!

Saturday August 8, 2015 - Fishing Derby: Another long-standing tradition is the Fishing Derby.  Steve Bleizeffer coordinates a day fishing at Lake Osborne – the lake by the Police Department.  Everyone tracks the number and size of fish caught and prizes are awarded for most fish caught, biggest fish caught, etc.  Steve then serves up hot dogs, chips and soda.  He’ll even bait your hooks and show you the best places to fish!

Saturday October 10, 2015 - Fall Festival: This event is new in the past few years and is a big hit!  It is a great chance to get together one last time before the winter weather arrives.  Kids play games such as bobbing for apples and mummy wrap before stretching out on the lawn for a movie.  The adults get to socialize and enjoy the autumn weather.
